How many different measuring words can you think of?
This term we are learning to measure everyday objects in a variety of ways.
Our first focus is on length.
The key idea when we played with the play dough was the comparison of objects. We placed them side by side and used measurement words such as longer, shorter, taller, tallest.
To discover the different sizes, we had to trace around our feet. This was one tricky job!
The second part of measuring is to understand that when comparing objects the unit being used (our interlocking cubes) must not change. We can't leave gaps or make overlaps or our result will not be true.
THERE IS A LOT TO REMEMBER WHEN WE ARE LEARNING TO MEASURE.
